Raised in a theatrical family, there was never any doubt mary would end up doing something artistic. mary loved being transported to other worlds. She became involved in the theatre herself at a very young age. She was also intrigued by special effects movies.
At sixteen, mary attended the Illinois High School Theatre Festival. She attended a special effects make-up work shop and fell in love. She decided then and there that she wanted to be a make-up artist.
After years of studying all different facets of theatre, mary received her first formal training in make-up technique while working towards her BA at Loyola University of Chicago. She decided to move to Los Angeles to pursue more creative opportunities with make-up, and to further her education. Ironically, enough, she became involved in LA’s vibrant theatre community as a make-up and hair designer. Later, she attended Westmore Academy of the Cosmetic Arts to enhance her skills and learn new tricks for both beauty and special effects make-up in television, film, and print.
Since graduating from the Westmore program, mary has put these new skills to the test and knows now more than ever that this is indeed where she is at home. In addition to continuing her work with the local theatre community, she has been working on features, short films, music videos, and print work. Recently, she has relocated back to her native Chicago to do the work she loves in the city she loves. Contact her for your next project!
